M&I Bank Coach of the Week

Week 1 Coach of the Week

Rick Darlington - Apopka
So many area coaches were deserving of week one recognition. However, the job Rick Darlington did with three sophomore offensive linemen and a young defense that played without its senior leader Danny White, was outstanding. The Blue Darters took down the defending region champions, Lake Brantley, on the road in triple overtime.

Week 2 Coach of the Week

Doug Nichols - Liberty
The Liberty Chargers have been one of the best stories of the season so far. The Poinciana relief school started the season by beating Poinciana and in week two the Chargers defeated St. Cloud 20-16. Doug Nichols has done a great job with this young program.

Week 3 Coach of the Week

Keith Council - Oak Ridge
Council's Pioneers took down West Orange 15-7 Friday. Oak Ridge looks promising after playing a tough Olympia team close, followed by the win over the Warriors. The Pioneers had won just one game out of 21 before Friday. This week they'll host Boone.

Week 4 Coach of the Week

George Clayton - Lake Brantley
Clayton's Patriots shut down a Winter Springs offense that entered the game averaging 360 yards and 29 points per game. The Patriots held the Bears to -7 yards of total offense in a 16-0 shut out. Much of the credit must go to the remainder of the Lake Brantley staff that filled in well at practices with Coach Clayton out of state with family matters.

Week 5 Coach of the Week

Matt Kemper - Lake Howell
Coach Kemper's Silver Hawks pulled off a stunning Seminole County upset beating Seminole 20-14. The Fightin' 'Noles were off to a good start and entered the game as a favorite. Lake Howell has shown the ability to move the ball this year on offense but its defensive performance against a talented Seminole team is very impressive.

Week 6 Coach of the Week

Matt Hedrick - Bishop Moore
Bishop Moore went on the road in week six as a big underdog to Harmony. The Hornets came away with a 13-10 win putting Bishop Moore in excellent position to make the playoffs for the 4th straight year. Bishop Moore has now won 24 of its last 26 regular season games.

Week 7 Coach of the Week

Matt Arena - Lake Mary Prep
Lake Mary Prep had won just one game over the last three years before Matt Arena took over as head coach. This season, the Griffins have won three games already and last week took down Temple Christian, who entered the game with a 5-1 record. The victory was the biggest in the program's history and it keeps Lake Mary Prep alive in the playoff race.

Week 8 Coach of the Week

Jeff Rolson - Osceola
The Kowboys beat Lake Gibson for the school's biggest win since Jeff Rolson took over last year. The 34-31 win secures a playoff berth for Osceola and sets up a district championship game against Lakeland in week 10. Rolson is now 16-3 in two years as the Kowboys' head coach.

Week 9 Coach of the Week

Tyler Anderson - Harmony
With their backs against the wall, facing elimination from playoff contention, the Longhorns whipped Eustis 31-13 to stay alive. Eustis had won six straight entering the game with wins over South Sumter and East Ridge during that stretch. Harmony, with a win this week over St. Cloud. at the very least, will assure itself a spot in a district shootout.

Jeff Rolson - Osceola

Week 10

Jeff Rolson's Kowboys ended Lakeland's state record 53 game win streak. Osceola remains unbeaten at 9-0.
